COLLECTIVE FALL PROTECTION FOR COMMERCIAL BUILDS
When working on roof trusses, purlins, or steel beams, the risk of an internal fall is high. Fall protection safety nets provide a "collective" safety barrier, meaning everyone on site is protected automatically without needing to clip onto a static line.
We don't cut corners. We supply and install industrial-grade knotless nets that are rigorously tested to meet the BS EN 1263-1 standards for energy absorption, ensuring your site meets strict WorkSafe NZ requirements.
Jase Scaffolding provides a full handover certificate and visual inspection log, so you know your fall arrest safety net system will actually catch a person if the worst happens. Contact us for a quote today.
Our Core Applications
We assess your site before we rig anything, ensuring your fall-protection safety net is built around it.
Residential Truss & Roof Work
Installing timber trusses and top plates is one of the most dangerous stages of a house build.
Our nets catch you if you slip, preventing serious injury from falling onto the concrete slab below. They are essential for 2-storey voids and high-stud living areas.
Commercial Warehouses & Steel Framing
For large-span commercial buildings, nets are the most efficient way to protect roofing contractors. We rig extensive net systems that cover thousands of square metres, allowing roofers to lay sheets rapidly and safely across the entire structure.
Mezzanines & Stairwells
Falls don't just happen from the roof. We install targeted building safety net solutions for internal stair voids, lift shafts, and mezzanine floors to ensure there are no unguarded gaps on your site.
WHY BUILDERS CHOOSE SAFETY NETS OVER HARNESSES
Harnesses tangle, restrict movement, and need constant re-clipping as workers shift position. That slows everything down on a commercial framing job, where your team is constantly moving across open structures.
Safety nets for construction sites remove that friction entirely. Once they’re rigged, your team can work freely without needing to adjust or stop work to stay compliant.
It’s also the right call under WorkSafe NZ’s hierarchy of controls. Safety nets for fall protection apply to everyone in the area, ranking it above one that relies on an individual to do the right thing every time.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN OUR SAFETY NET SERVICE?
Speed and compliance are everything. You need the construction safety nets up fast so the builders can start, and down immediately when the roof is on. We manage the entire process to keep your timeline moving.
Compliant Install & Handover Certificate
You’ve got documented proof that your fall-arrest safety nets meet the required standard, which is useful for site audits, H&S files, and sign-off from your project manager.
Annual UV Testing
We adhere to a strict maintenance schedule where every net undergoes mandatory annual UV degradation testing.
We never install expired or weakened gear on your site.
Rapid Install & Retrieval
On-Site Assessment Before Every Job
You get a system designed for your build, not just a generic configuration.

FAQs
Why use safety nets instead of harnesses?
WorkSafe NZ prioritises "collective controls" (like nets) over "personal controls" (like harnesses). Construction safety nets automatically protect everyone in the area, regardless of their actions.
Harnesses only work if the person is wearing them correctly, using the right lanyard, and is actively clipped on. Nets eliminate that human error factor entirely.
How much clearance do I need below the net?
Building safety nets need space to stretch (deflect) if a person falls into them. Generally, we need roughly 2 to 3 metres of clear space below the net, free of obstacles (such as machinery, pallets, or internal walls). We will assess this clearance during our site visit.
Can I install the nets myself?
No. Installation requires FASET certification to ensure the nets are correctly tensioned and anchored to strong points capable of withstanding significant loads. Incorrect installation can result in the net failing or pulling walls down during a fall.
How often do the nets need to be inspected?
Just like scaffolding, safety nets for construction sites must be visually inspected daily before the site is used, at regular intervals (often weekly), and after bad weather. We check for cuts, debris in the net, or tampering to ensure they remain safe.
Can we continue working if debris falls into the net?
No. If heavy debris (timber, tools, concrete) falls into the net, stop work immediately. Remove the debris carefully and inspect the net for damage before continuing. A loaded net loses its ability to absorb the energy of a second fall and must be checked before anyone works above it again.
