Can I put up my own scaffolding in New Zealand?
There are strict competency requirements, particularly where a scaffold is more than five metres high. Even below that threshold, the system still needs to be safe and suitable. Ask Jase Scaffolding to assess the site.
Do I need a permit?
A permit or traffic-management approval may be needed if scaffolding affects a road, footpath or public space. The team can flag this during planning.
How often does scaffolding need to be checked?
Scaffolding should be inspected before first use, at intervals not exceeding seven days, and after storms, earthquakes or other events that may affect its stability.
What is the difference between fixed and mobile scaffolding?
Fixed scaffolding is designed for sustained access around a building or work face. Mobile towers suit shorter, lighter work on appropriate flat ground where repositioning is useful.
How long does installation take?
Timing depends on the scale and complexity of the site. A straightforward residential scaffold may be installed quickly, while larger or restricted-access projects need more planning.
